The commune of Laize-Clinchamps, in the Calvados region, has inaugurated a new road dedicated to soft mobility between Laize-la-Ville and Clinchamps-sur-Orne. The project, which has been awaited for over ten years, embodies a resolutely ecological approach. Constructed using a recycled asphalt with a positive carbon footprint (Biophalt), this cycle and pedestrian path combines environmental innovation and user comfort. The route runs alongside the RD41 and has been designed to offer local residents a new, safe itinerary, in line with the cycling scheme of the Vallées de l'Orne et de l'Odon community of municipalities.

An exemplary track with low-carbon asphalt and LuminoKrom® branding

A distinctive feature of this project is the combined use of recycled asphalt with a plant-based binder and LuminoKrom® electroluminescent markings. This marking captures light during the day and returns it at night without electricity, thus avoiding the need for conventional street lighting. This technical choice enables the local authority to control costs while enhancing user safety. A first in Basse-Normandie, made possible by close collaboration between elected representatives, local residents and Eiffage. The total cost of the project is €155,000, financed by the communauté de communes, the Calvados département and the commune.
