Colmar, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent marking to make cycling safer
Photoluminescent markings to guide urban travel
Enhanced visibility for safer pathways
In September 2023, the City of Colmar applied LuminoKrom® to secure the urban walkway between Rue de la Mittelharth and Chemin de la Mittelharth.
The photoluminescent markings, produced in-house by the City of Colmar, improve visibility at night, providing pedestrians and cyclists with a reliable, safe, luminous marker.
A sustainable solution for urban development
LuminoKrom® captures daylight and restores it for up to 10 hours at night, guaranteeing efficient signage without energy consumption. This project demonstrates the City of Colmar's commitment to soft mobility and safer urban spaces, by integrating innovative, environmentally-friendly solutions.
Testimonials
"This stretch of road was notorious for accidents, with many people falling off their bikes. That's why we chose it for our experiment. It's a soft light, which doesn't generate light pollution, but provides simple guidance in places that are plunged into darkness".
"Falls are common in this area. We had several solutions, either to put street lighting or LEDs on the ground. We preferred this innovative solution."
Philippe Scheibling, head of the Voies publiques et Réseaux department at the City of Colmar
« Sometimes it's hard to get your bearings, even with good lighting, but this is a plus. We're quite happy with the result.»
