PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Glow in the dark water-based paint
Like its solvent-based version, our green waterborne photoluminescent paint boasts a luminescence time of over 6 hours outdoors. It provides autonomous lighting for night-time use, with no need for electricity, ensuring safety and visibility throughout the night.
Our water-based photoluminescent paint glows in the dark when exposed to natural or artificial light. This ability is based on specific pigments integrated into the coating, capable of capturing light during the day and gradually releasing it at night, in the form of a luminous halo visible for several hours.
Our paint combines the environmental benefits of water-based paints – low VOC emissions, water-based cleaning, reduced environmental impact – with the effectiveness of luminescent markings designed to improve safety and legibility for night-time travel.
The LuminoKrom® range includes a broad spectrum of phosphorescent paints, suitable for a wide range of uses and substrates. In addition to our range of solvent-based road markings, we offer several water-based solutions, available in various shades: white, yellow, blue and almond green.
Glow in the dark paint recharges in daylight, even under cover in the forest or in poor conditions (rain, fog…), or artificially in enclosed spaces.

APPLICATION
TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE WATER-BASED PAINT APPLICATION
To ensure maximum effectiveness of the photoluminescent marking, application must be carried out on a white undercoat. This light tint acts as a reflector, intensifying light restitution and guaranteeing optimum visibility in the dark.
The surface to be treated must be at least one month old before application. It must be clean, dry and free from all traces of pollution, oil or grease, whether due to environmental conditions or repeated vehicle traffic. The substrate must be free of rising damp due to capillary action, and must be sufficiently rough for the coating to adhere well.

If required, the application area can be cleaned with water, then carefully dried before painting.
Our waterborne photoluminescent paint is applied by hand, using a roller or a brush. For brush application, we recommend using a tool specifically designed for waterborne paints. When applying with a roller, use a model with short bristles (6 to 8 mm) to ensure uniform deposition.
Important: this type of paint is not compatible with pressure application.
LuminoKrom® waterborne paints are ready-to-use: they do not need to be thinned before use.

Steps for applying green water-based paint
Surface preparation: Thoroughly clean the area to be painted with clear water or a suitable cleaner. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from all traces of dust, oil or grease.
Marking boundaries: Use tape or stencils to mark the lines or symbols to be painted. This step ensures a clean, precise finish, while protecting surrounding areas.
Application of white undercoat: Apply a first coat of white paint at a rate of 400 g/m². This clear undercoat is essential to maximize the luminous effect of LuminoKrom® paint.
Drying the underlay: Follow the drying time indicated by the underlay manufacturer. In general, 2 hours is recommended before applying photoluminescent paint.
Equipment preparation: Prepare the necessary tools and clean them with water before use to ensure a clean, even application.
Preparing LuminoKrom® paint: Open the can and carefully homogenize the paint before application. Thorough mixing is essential to ensure uniform consistency and optimum rendering.
Application of green luminescent paint: Apply LuminoKrom® green paint at a recommended dosage of 900 g/m². Be sure to follow the instructions on weight, application speed and specific recommendations in the technical data sheet for the aqueous version used.
Roller application: one coat is sufficient.
Brush application: allow two additional coats for optimum results.
Final drying: Allow paint to dry for 24 hours. Drying time may vary slightly according to ambient temperature and environmental conditions. During this time, protect the painted area from traffic, dust and weather.
Tool cleaning: After application, clean tools immediately with clean water to remove all paint residues.
REVIEWS & TESTIMONIALS
FEEDBACK AND CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS
Find out more about our phosphorescent markings, including our green waterborne paint.
« It's amazing, you can see the lines really well in the middle of the night, even if the slightly green rendering is astonishing. The effect is really reassuring. »
Christophe, resident in Loire Atlantique department
« Since the scheme was introduced, people have been less apprehensive about taking their bikes to get around, even in the evening, because they know they can find their way easily thanks to the markings. »
An aqueous coating is a paint whose main solvent is water. This formulation makes it more environmentally friendly and easier to handle. One of its distinguishing features is its low content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), limiting toxic emissions and unpleasant odors during application.
Water-based paints come in a variety of formulations, including acrylics, vinyls and latexes. They are appreciated for their fast drying, easy maintenance (water-based cleaning, no thinner required) and versatility of use.
Suitable for a wide range of substrates, including walls, floors, objects and materials such as wood, metal or concrete, they offer good adhesion, excellent resistance to wear and weather conditions, and a durable, aesthetic finish.
Thanks to this balance between technical performance and respect for the environment, waterborne paints are widely used in interior and exterior decoration projects, as well as in industrial and marking applications.
