Homet Greenway: a path that is easier for users to see at night
Nighttime security for the Homet Greenway
An upgraded route between the station and the arsenal
In fall 2024, the City of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin began work on improving the Homet Greenway, a 2.8 km strategic route connecting the train station to the arsenal along the former railway line.
The AER Eiffage applicator was used to integrate our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint into guidance markings, in order to improve understanding of the route along the entire path. Thanks to these luminous markers, users can follow the route more easily, particularly in areas where public lighting is poor or non-existent.
Natural lighting to make soft mobility safer
On this busy greenway, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint plays a key role in enhancing safety at night. Our markings recharge naturally in daylight and emit a steady glow for several hours, creating a continuous luminous thread that helps cyclists, pedestrians, and everyday users of the route find their way. This solution reduces dependence on artificial lighting while also reducing light pollution, which is particularly important for routes that run alongside natural areas.
By offering increased nighttime visibility without additional energy consumption, we are helping to encourage the use of soft mobility, improve user comfort, and ensure long-term safety for travelers on this iconic route in the region.
