A photoluminescent solution to secure sensitive logistics areas

Effective marking in setback areas

In September 2025, Aldi France applied LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint in its logistics warehouse in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, on poorly lit manoeuvring areas. The aim was to improve night-time visibility even in the absence of power in the reversing areas used by transport vehicles.

The device comprises a strip on the floor to mark out the trajectories and a vertical strip on the wall to reinforce visual cues in the environment.

This simple but strategic signage makes it possible to:

  • guide forklift and heavy goods vehicle drivers in dark technical areas,
  • reduce the risk of collisions or damage to infrastructure,
  • improve safety for logistics teams.

A self-contained and sustainable application

The paint used is our LuminoKrom® paint, Almond Green version and Class G, chosen for its compatibility with indoor/outdoor environments and ease of application. It recharges naturally in light (whether natural or artificial) and emits visible light for up to 10 hours after the light sources have been switched off, without any electrical connection.

The project was carried out in-house, directly by the technical teams at the Aldi logistics site. This autonomy shows that the application of LuminoKrom® does not require heavy equipment or specific technical skills: simple preparation of the surface and application with a roller or brush are all that is needed.

In addition to its functional benefits, this solution is part of a broader approach to energy efficiency and preventive safety, two priorities for modern logistics sites. Thanks to LuminoKrom®, Aldi combines innovation, energy efficiency and operator protection with ease.
