A network of greenways that are more visible at night on Île de Ré

A cycling route covering several municipalities

In July 2025, the Île de Ré Community of Municipalities improved nighttime visibility on several sections of greenways connecting Rivedoux-Plage, Sainte-Marie, and Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré. Over a distance of nearly 3 kilometers, the applicator Signaux Girod Saint-Jean-d'Angély deployed our T3 axial photoluminescent marking to provide clear and continuous guidance to users.

These routes pass through varied environments—forested areas, urban fringes, and coastal areas—where light levels can drop significantly at nightfall. By structuring these paths, LuminoKrom® allows for immediate visibility of the route and smoother travel between towns on the Île de Ré.

Light guidance adapted to island mobility

On Île de Ré, where cycling is ubiquitous and soft mobility is a major mode of transportation, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent technology fully meets nighttime safety needs. By absorbing light during the day, our markings emit a uniform glow at night, guiding cyclists and pedestrians along their route. This increased visibility makes it easier to anticipate turns, recognize sensitive areas, and perceive intersections, which is particularly useful on roads running alongside woods or unlit natural areas.

The use of LuminoKrom® also helps preserve the environmental quality of the area by avoiding the installation of additional artificial lighting, while ensuring a high level of comfort and safety. Travel between Rivedoux-Plage, Sainte-Marie, and Le Bois-Plage is now safer, even during tourist season or late at night. By making routes easier to follow, our solution helps promote the Île de Ré cycling network and encourages sustainable, low-impact transportation on the island.
