Creation of photoluminescent patterns on paving stones in Geneva

A playful design for the renovated schoolyard

In September 2025, the courtyard of the École de Sécheron, located in the heart of Geneva, was redesigned to provide students with an attractive and intuitive space to move around. Under the coordination of MAP Paysages, the teams at SCRASA SA integrated our LuminoKrom® technology into a floor pattern inspired by pixel art.

This path includes a Japanese stepping stone made from recycled slabs and reflective graphics designed to enliven the paved terrace. These visual markers create a clear and fun path for children while enhancing the entire renovated courtyard.

A safer and more accessible playground for children

In this school setting, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint plays an essential role in ensuring the safety of young users, particularly during periods of reduced light or in winter. After capturing daylight, our markings emit a soft, continuous glow that helps children find their way around and makes pathways more visible to teaching staff.

This luminous signage improves visibility in high-traffic areas, reduces the risk of collisions, and helps to naturally structure traffic flow in this busy space. LuminoKrom® also has an educational and aesthetic dimension: the light patterns arouse curiosity, encourage play, and reinforce the graphic identity of the courtyard without the need for artificial lighting. This sustainable, energy-free solution is the perfect answer to the challenges faced by modern schools, which are concerned with both student safety and environmental sustainability.
