United Arab Emirates: LuminoKrom® photoluminescent road markings
Photoluminescent safety measures for a cycle path
A cycle path made visible at night without lighting
In February 2025, White Paper deployed our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent solution on a cycle path in the United Arab Emirates. The aim of this project was to improve night-time visibility on a route heavily used by cyclists, in an area where light conditions vary greatly in the evening.
Our technology was applied to structure the route and provide a clear marker along its entire length. The markings make it easier to anticipate the route, while ensuring safe travel in an environment where public lighting is limited or absent for energy reasons.
A sustainable solution perfectly suited to extreme climates
In a demanding climate such as that of the United Arab Emirates, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is an effective solution for improving the safety of soft mobility while limiting the use of artificial lighting. Our markings absorb the intensity of daylight, which is very high in these latitudes, and emit a clear, continuous glow at night that naturally guides cyclists. This autonomous lighting reduces the need for electrical infrastructure, preserves the night-time environment and offers a high level of visual comfort for users.
By structuring the cycle path with sustainable luminous markers, White Paper helps to facilitate everyday cycling, particularly for morning or night-time rides when temperatures are more bearable. LuminoKrom® is therefore part of a comprehensive approach to sustainable mobility, offering a safer, smoother experience that is better adapted to local conditions.
