Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Glow in the dark paint for metal

Are you looking for a simple solution to make a metal structure more visible at night?

Our photoluminescent paint for metal surfaces has been developed to improve safety and assist movement in poorly lit areas. In industrial settings and urban environments alike, darkness makes it difficult to find your way around: equipment, ramps, guardrails, and street furniture become hard to see and can pose a risk.

Photoluminescent paint for metal, available in several shades including this daylight white color, is easy to apply to iron, steel, or other alloy surfaces. Formulated specifically to adhere permanently to metal, it can be used both outdoors and indoors, depending on the project requirements. Available in almond green, white, and yellow, it allows you to choose the color best suited to the constraints of your industrial site, urban developments, or technical infrastructure.

PAINT PERFORMANCE

  • 6 hours of brightness outdoors with complete autonomy
  • Class E certified (CE ISO17398 standard)
  • Pigments recharge in daylight, even under cover in the middle of a forest or in poor conditions (rain, fog…), or artificially indoors
  • Recharge capacity in just a few minutes

APPLICATION

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE PAINTWORK

To ensure optimal luminescence, it is essential to apply a white undercoat. This light-colored base acts as an amplifier, allowing the photoluminescent paint to fully reflect the accumulated light.

For consistent, high-performance results, it is important to follow the thickness and weight specifications for each product precisely, including our paint designed for metal surfaces. When these recommendations are followed, a single application of the photoluminescent coating is sufficient to achieve durable, effective marking.

In general, the use of an undercoat is strongly recommended before any application on a metal surface. It promotes paint adhesion and provides additional protection against oxidation, rust, and external damage. This step is even more important on non-ferrous metals, whose surfaces naturally offer poorer adhesion, even with products specifically formulated for this type of material.

Our photoluminescent paint for metal is applied with a spray gun, using nozzles designed for even and controlled application.

Ready to use, LuminoKrom® phosphorescent paint requires no dilution: it can be used immediately upon opening the can for quick and optimal application.

Steps for applying metal paint

  1. Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface, then lightly sand it to obtain a clean, uniform surface. After rinsing, allow to air dry before applying.
  2. Then apply a white undercoat at a rate of 400 g/m². Allow to dry for approximately 30 minutes, which is essential to ensure that the photoluminescent layer adheres properly.
  3. Before painting, prepare your equipment and mix the LuminoKrom® paint to obtain a perfectly smooth texture.
  4. Then apply the luminescent coat following the weight and speed instructions specified in the dedicated technical data sheet.
  5. Allow to dry for approximately 45 minutes. This time may vary slightly depending on weather conditions and ambient temperature at the time of application.

ADVANTAGES OF USING GLOW METAL PAINT

Our photoluminescent paint for metal is based on the principle of photoluminescence: the applied film captures natural or artificial light during the day, then releases it in the form of visible glow when the environment darkens.

Formulated to adhere permanently to metal surfaces, it combines mechanical strength and visibility in the dark thanks to its luminous pigments.

How to paint metal surfaces?

Metal paint is a coating specifically designed to adhere effectively to metal surfaces and protect them from external damage. It acts as a barrier against corrosion, rust, and wear caused by environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature variations, exposure to sunlight, and mechanical stress.

Designed to cover a wide range of metals—iron, steel, aluminum, cast iron, and many others—these paints often incorporate technical properties such as anti-oxidation or anti-rust action. Their formulation guarantees long-lasting paint coverage and reliable protection for the substrate, regardless of its environment.

What surface should our LuminoKrom®  product be painted on?

Paints designed for metal surfaces are useful in many environments, whether for maintaining equipment exposed to the elements or reinforcing the durability of industrial infrastructure. Their main strength lies in their ability to limit the onset of rust and corrosion, which helps preserve the strength of metal components subjected to external aggressions.

In industrial and urban settings, our photoluminescent paint plays a key role in highlighting various structures, both indoors and outdoors: bridges and walkways, guardrails, utility poles, tanks, handling equipment, and traffic areas. Once applied, it not only protects the metal, but also makes it visible in the dark thanks to its luminescence.

The LuminoKrom® range is suitable for most common metal substrates—iron, steel, aluminum, and other metals susceptible to oxidation—and is an effective solution when corrosion resistance and nighttime visibility are two major concerns.
