Application of LuminoKrom® markings in evacuation routes

Redesigned evacuation signage for indoor stairways

Between July and September 2025, the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) in Malaysia commissioned AHN Vertex Sdn. Bhd. to improve visibility on the stairs in several blocks of the building. The work involved applying our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint in the form of straight lines and directional arrows, 100 mm wide, to create a clear and continuous marker along the walls.

Produced according to the plans provided and following a preliminary technical visit, this marking covers 260 linear meters for a total surface area of 26 m². Its purpose is to guide occupants, patients, and staff to the exit even in the event of a power failure.

An essential lighting device for emergency evacuation

In healthcare facilities where risk management is paramount, our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint provides additional safety by ensuring the visibility of evacuation routes during a power outage. After capturing natural or artificial light during the day, our markings glow brightly in the dark, allowing people to instantly follow the path to the exits. This visual continuity reduces confusion, limits the risk of falls, and promotes the smooth and rapid movement of all users, including visitors and healthcare teams.

For this project, the markings were applied to blocks D and C, covering lengths ranging from 57 to 72 meters per flight of stairs. The entire project required 30 kg of LuminoKrom® paint, guaranteeing optimal results and maximum light performance. This device, which is entirely passive and consumes no energy, fits perfectly into the building's interior environment and permanently enhances its evacuation capacity in critical situations.
