French innovation spotlighted on TF1 news programme

In its news program, TF1 presented LuminoKrom®, our photoluminescent paint developed in France, which is winning over more and more local authorities. By day, it looks like conventional paint, and by night, it becomes a veritable light guide, visible for almost 10 hours. With no electricity or CO₂ emissions, our innovation provides a concrete response to the challenges of energy sobriety.

The report looks at the example of the commune of Arès, Gironde, a pioneer in the application of LuminoKrom® to its cycle network. Enthralled by the initial trials, the local authority decided to equip more than 300 kilometers of trails, to the great benefit of residents and tourists alike. Everyone appreciates the comfort and safety offered by this innovative nighttime beaconing system.

TF1 also emphasizes the economic benefits of this solution: whereas the installation of one kilometer of public lighting represents a cost of around 200,000 euros, the use of LuminoKrom® costs around 8,000 euros. This patented technology is inspired by a natural phenomenon observed on the seabed, where certain algae and fish emit their own light.

Today, 20 tonnes of LuminoKrom® paint are produced every year and shipped all over the world: England, Canada, Australia, the Middle East, South Africa and Spain.

A sustainable solution exported worldwide

LuminoKrom® is an innovative alternative for making night-time mobility safer, while reducing the energy footprint of local communities. Its autonomy, durability and affordable cost make it a particularly suitable solution for local authorities keen to combine safety and ecology.

Beyond France, many countries are already adopting this technology for a variety of uses: marking bicycle lanes, parking spaces, greenways, urban landscaping and even artistic frescoes.

Each project illustrates the potential of this French innovation, at the crossroads of materials science and ecological transition.
