[Gazette Live] Castelnau: photoluminescent markings on a cycle path
In Castelnau-le-Lez, a bicycle path equipped with LuminoKrom® markings for night-time safety
The town of Castelnau-le-Lez is reinforcing cyclists' safety with the installation of photoluminescent markings on the new Chemin du Clos de l'Armet cycle path. These markings, visible in the dark without the need for electricity, will guide users at night, thanks to an innovative paint that captures daylight or headlight light and emits it for over ten hours. This new section, located between the Boulder Line building and the Notre-Dame de Sablassou parking lot, will be inaugurated on April 2.
Ecological, high-performance marking for soft mobility
The technology used, dubbed LuminoKrom®, was developed by Bordeaux-based company OliKrom. It offers a solution that is both sustainable, with no CO₂ emissions, and particularly effective for night-time travel. By limiting the need for public lighting, it contributes both to cyclists' safety and to energy sobriety for local authorities. This choice is part of an active policy to promote soft mobility in Castelnau-le-Lez, and could inspire other similar developments in the area.
