Illuminated markings to guide cyclists and make curbs safer

Reinforced signage for a smoother journey

In spring 2024, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint was applied for the first time to a green lane in the town of Rillieux La Pape, along the Avenue de l'Industrie, near the SNCF station. This decision by the Metropole de Lyon represents a major step forward in the safety and accessibility of urban infrastructures.

The project involves the application of guidance and kerb markings using LuminoKrom®, a patented French technology. Our photoluminescent paint, which is capable of absorbing light during the day and releasing it at night, ensures enhanced visibility without relying on street lighting. This is particularly beneficial for greenways, where lighting is often limited to preserve the natural environment.

The guidance markings provide clear orientation for cyclists and other soft mobility users, while the kerb markings enhance safety by demarcating traffic zones. This initiative underlines the Metropole of Lyon's commitment to adopting sustainable and innovative solutions to improve safety and the user experience.

A sustainable solution for safe soft mobility

LuminoKrom® captures daylight and restores it for 10 hours at night, ensuring effective signage without energy consumption. This installation is a clear demonstration of the Metropole de Lyon's commitment to promoting soft mobility, while guaranteeing the safety of cyclists and pedestrians, even in the absence of public lighting.
