Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Glow in the dark solvent paint

With our new photoluminescent blue tint, LuminoKrom® paint further enhances the visibility and safety of bicycle and pedestrian routes, day and night, whatever the weather conditions. Our luminous markings enable users to better locate their trajectory, anticipate changes of direction or the presence of an obstacle, and move around with confidence.

The greenways and soft mobility routes equipped with this new blue version appeal to a wide range of users, from commuters to night-time strollers, in summer and winter alike.

The blue LuminoKrom® paint, like previous versions, stores natural light during the day, then lights up automatically in the dark. It offers visibility up to 80 meters for over 6 hours, without electricity, CO2 emissions or electrical installation.

A reliable, economical and environmentally-friendly solution for safer, more attractive landscaping.

PAINT PERFORMANCE

  • Long-lasting luminosity : 6-hour autonomous light duration
  • Certified E Class (CE ISO17398 standard)
  • Recharges with natural light, even under cover in the middle of a forest or in poor conditions (rain, fog…)
  • Recharge capacity in just a few minutes

APPLICATION

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE SOLVENT-BASED PAINT APPLICATION

Before applying our blue luminescent paint, make sure the surface to be coated is at least one month old.

It must be perfectly dry, clean, and free from all traces of pollution, oil or grease - whether due to external conditions or repeated vehicle traffic. It is also crucial that the substrate be free from rising damp through capillary action, and that it be sufficiently rough to ensure good adhesion of the coating.

If necessary, a thorough cleaning followed by complete drying should be carried out before application.

To guarantee optimum efficiency, photoluminescent paints must be applied over a white undercoat. This neutral base acts as a light amplifier, considerably enhancing the luminous effect of the marking.

LuminoKrom® road paint can be applied using a variety of processes, depending on the constraints of the job site. For large-scale professional markings, the use of marking machines equipped with airless or pneumatic spraying systems is recommended. This equipment ensures fast, precise and even application.

For smaller surfaces, on floors or walls, particularly for signage elements, the airbrush gun is the ideal solution. It provides an even deposit, perfectly suited to small markings and hard-to-reach areas.

LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is supplied ready to use. No dilution is required before application.

By following the recommended installation steps, you can guarantee excellent pavement adhesion, optimum durability and enhanced night-time visibility, thus contributing to road user safety.

Steps for applying blue solvent-based paint

  1. Surface preparation: Before application, thoroughly clean the area to be painted with clear water or a suitable degreaser. The surface must be clean, dry and totally free of dust, oil and grease.

  2. Marking areas: Use masking tape or stencils to outline the lines or symbols to be applied. This step ensures a clean, precise finish and protects surrounding areas.

  3. Application of white undercoat: Apply a first coat of white paint at a dosage of 400 g/m². This clear base is essential to optimize the photoluminescent effect of LuminoKrom® paint.

  4. Drying the undercoat: Allow this first coat to dry for at least 30 minutes. Respecting this drying time is crucial to ensure good adhesion of the next coat.

  5. Equipment preparation: Before proceeding, thoroughly clean application equipment with a suitable rinsing solvent to avoid contamination or alteration of the product.

  6. Preparing LuminoKrom® paint: Carefully mix the chosen paint (e.g. almond green) to obtain a homogeneous consistency. Depending on application conditions, a slight dilution with a suitable solvent may be necessary to adjust viscosity.

  7. Application of photoluminescent paint: Apply LuminoKrom® paint at a recommended dosage of 900 g/m². Be sure to follow the instructions for weight, application speed and technical recommendations specific to the version used (solvent-based or water-based).

  8. Drying the luminescent coating: Allow to dry for at least 45 minutes, taking into account environmental conditions (temperature, humidity). During this phase, the painted area must be protected from traffic and the elements.

  9. Cleaning equipment: After application, clean all tools thoroughly with acetyl thinner.

« Very judicious realization. My son, who bikes this route almost daily, appreciates the comfort and visibility of the new layout. »

Yves Loïc, local resident near the city of Plérin - France

« This project is part of the development of bicycle routes by the Pedestrian-Bicycle Committee. This section will facilitate the connection between Cicé-Blossac and the town center, as the existing path was difficult for all cyclists to use. As this path is not lit, we opted for a photoluminescent pavement marking that captures and stores light during the day and lights up at night. »

Bruno Delaunay, municipal councillor responsible for networks and infrastructures

ADVANTAGES OF BLUE GLOW IN THE DARK SOLVENT PAINT

A solvent-based paint, or organic solvent paint, consists of a binder and pigments dissolved in a volatile solvent, such as a hydrocarbon, alcohol, ketone or ester. This solvent facilitates application by thinning the paint and promoting its adhesion to the substrate. During application, the solvent evaporates, leaving a solid layer of binder and pigments.

Solvent-based paints used for road markings offer many advantages. They dry quickly, so you can get back on the road more quickly. They offer excellent resistance to abrasion, weathering and temperature variations. Sturdy and durable, they are ideal for demanding outdoor applications: road infrastructure, road signs, industrial equipment, metal or plastic surfaces. Their strong adhesion makes them particularly effective in high-stress environments.
