Light signals to anticipate intersections and enhance safety on cycle paths

Photoluminescent markings at the heart of the island's cycle network

The Communauté de Communes de l'Île de Ré is continuing the work it began in 2022 to improve cycling safety. In June 2025, a new project was carried out in Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré to treat the yielding, crossing and singular points of a dedicated path. A continuous 60-metre axial marking was applied upstream of the secant, effectively alerting cyclists by day and night.

LuminoKrom® for better orientation at any time of day

Thanks to our LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint, ground signage remains visible for up to 10 hours after dark. This system provides a reassuring visual cue for both regular users and summer visitors less familiar with the network. This initiative is in line with the local desire to promote soft mobility while ensuring a high level of safety for all cyclists, whatever the visibility conditions.
